Tips to keep the jaggery safe and for long time

Some tips to keep the Jaggery safe and for long time:
----------------------------------------------------
1) Keep the jaggery in the jaggery box (cartoon) itself and open the top lids.
2) Don't put in the closed vessels or plastic boxes or in air-tight container.
3) Don't expose the jaggery to moisture and keep the Jaggery in warm/moderate temperature (between 28 or 32 degree.)
4) Put turmeric powder around the jaggery box to avoid the ants.
5) You can keep the jaggery in any box but it should be air-circulated (but not moisture expose).
6) Best if you use bambu basket (we call mankari/butti in kannada) which has the air circulation.
7) Put some warm cloth in the bottom and also on the top of the box.
8) Watch out the jaggery box (like the one we provided) regularly and see if not spoiled/infected (for white patches on the Jaggery, etc). In case, jaggery spoiled, then put them to vessel, add little water and boiled the jaggery with low flame and make it liquid jaggery and use it, soon.
9) If more temperature also, the jaggery would turn to melt.
10) Be extra alert during rainy or in cold weather.

Few feedback from user:
-----------------------
1) As per consumer feedback, some people, arranged Jaggery in their kitchen side by side with little gap. Also, some people, kept few dry chilies in the cotton box itself.
2) Some people told that they kept the Jaggery in the refrigerator also and it can sustain for longer time.
3) Some people even made liquid jaggery and kept in refrigerator.

Missing of above precautionary and because of these days cold weather, it might attract fungus or white patches over the Jaggerry.

Note: Any naturally grown product would react to the nature very faster. So, that itself indicates it's not chemical grown.

I am sure, many others have learn to keep the Jaggery in good terms. If you have better plan, please share inputs for others benefits.

Oracle-Volunteers project - 2009 (Career guidance to high School Rural students)

In our Oracle company, every year there will be an event called "Oracle Volunteer". This will usually held during September to November. This activity will be conducted across many countries (where ever oracle offices located) to make a difference to the Society (and getting popular itself). Similarly, Oracle established in a big chunk in India/Bengalooru. With this occasion, there will be many projects operated in Bengalooru also. Usually all projects will be executed within Bangalore premises and rarely go out from Bengalooru. Few of us (my colleagues and friends) thought that why can't we move this project out of Bengalooru. Eventually, we decided to execute a social activity somewhere outside Bengalooru. Since most of us are coming form rural background and I am basically from Hebbakavadi village/Mandya and it's very near to capital of Karnataka, I/We proposed a project to conduct in Mandya. The project title is "Career guidance to high School students". We decided to execute this project in four schools. Namely, Hebbakavadi (main location), Mangala, Thimmana Hosooru, and Dodda Mulagoodu villages.

The project got approved from Ora-Volunteer group. We performed the event and it was a grand successful.
Here is the summary about the project:-
The project consists of 18 volunteers. Most of them (95%) are knows Kannada read/write/spoke and it's one of the main criteria to register to this project.
We grouped into four teams. Each group visited different schools (mentioned above). We covered approximately 400 students. The activity took one and half hour of interactive discussion/presentation in the morning and ~2 hours in the evening session to conduct Quiz (At Hebbakavadi).

The project activities:-
1. project is about teaching/guiding govt high schools students for their career. The career plan includes what can be done after SSLC (10th standard) class, like different streams (science, arts, professional courses, job oriented courses, music, sports, etc). Apart from this, providing pointers/contacts or educate them to know scholarships available (to name few Prathammysore, Infosys foundation, NTSE, KVPY, etc.).
Materials that we handover to Schools/Students:-
a) Bigger chart given to each Schools. This is displayed at the school
premises and it is useful for upcoming students
b) Booklet distributed to students/teachers for future reference which will
have "Mind Tree" representation of the content covered in the
presentation.
Also, it contains scholarship and job-oriented details and distributed them
to students/teachers for future reference.

2. Conducted "Quiz competition": The quiz intends to educate /create awareness among the students about general knowledge, career options. etc. The Quiz held b/w four team (formed from all four schools). Other than Hebbakavadi school team, everyone assembled at our Village (Hebbakavadi). Though it was Saturday and has got morning classes, our (project prime location) High school Head mistress arranged full day classes so that students can involve in getting the aware of such programs. After the quiz, we distributed the prizes to Winner and Runner team.

It was my privilege to execute Ora-Volunteer-2009 project in our native place and helped little to our rural students.

And if anybody wanted share the materials that we prepared and wanted to give to your own schools/children, let me know I can share the same. My email-id 'nandisha@gmail.com'.

My Life Path...

Education:
I have studied till 4th standard at my native and moved to neighboring village to complete my primary and high schooling. After this, I moved to Mandya to study PUC (I & II). Subsequently, I have been afford to join BE Computer Science on 1998 in Ramanagaram with the help of my people. All my relatives including my dearest parents and uncle and aunt showed me a tremendous love, affection and cooperation. With their help and my dear lectures and friends, I completed my Bachelor of Engineering in the year of 2002. Our batch is the first batch of VTU, Karnataka.

Professional Life:
While working in the S/W companies, with the help of my brother's class mate Srinivas, I joined Uttara institute (which is managing by M.L.S Shaastry) to learn depth knowledge of C language and Unix internals. I stayed at Srinivas house around eight months. Chennamma, Srinivas's mother given me the moral support and cooperation. Srinivas also given valuable suggestions and assisted me to look good things.

I am involving in few social activities and supporting genuine needy poor people. I felt that, it is not social activity and it's everyone responsibility.

I don't completely believe on stars (Ex: In kannada: Shastra, panchanga), instead I believe on truth, reality, respect, help other and understand the difficulties of other one. That's how I will find stars. Off course, I go to temple regularly :-)
